Get the right edition for your screen
On Android TV and Google TV it comes from Google Play. On a Firestick it arrives through Downloader, as covered in the Firestick guide. On Apple devices the equivalent is Smarters Player Lite by WHMCS SMARTERS. Samsung and LG sets have their own store versions, and there is a desktop edition for Windows and Mac.
Choose Login with Xtream Codes API
On the first screen, pick the Xtream Codes option rather than the playlist one. Xtream pulls in proper Live, Films and Series sections along with the guide, while an M3U link gives one long undifferentiated list. Only use M3U where Xtream is not offered.
Enter the details exactly as sent
Give the profile any name you like, then type the server address, username and password from the WhatsApp message. The address needs its http prefix. Letter case matters throughout, and a space picked up at the end of the password is the most common cause of a rejected login.
Let the sections build on first sign-in
The app downloads the channel list, guide and library, which takes a minute or two. When it settles you land on a home screen with Live TV, Films, Series and, on channels that support it, Catch Up. Do not judge the speed of the service by this first load.
Open the Irish and UK channels
Go to Live TV, find the Ireland group and start RTE, Virgin Media and TG4, then check the UK group. This is the first thing worth testing on any device, because these are the channels the household will open every evening.
Learn how Films and Series differ
Films lists individual titles with posters and a synopsis. Series is organised by show, then season, then episode, so a box set plays in order. Both have their own category lists down the side. The search box reaches across sections and is usually faster than scrolling.
Use resume to pick up where you stopped
Smarters remembers your position in a film or episode on that device. Reopen the title and it offers to continue. The position is stored in the app rather than on the account, so stopping on the television and resuming on a phone will not carry across.
Switch subtitles and audio during playback
Open the playback overlay and look for the subtitle and audio track menus. Many on-demand titles carry more than one of each; live channels rarely do. If no track is listed, the source does not contain one, which no setting will change.
Create separate users with a PIN
Under Settings, Parental Control you can set a code and lock categories. If several people use one television, adding a second profile with its own login keeps favourites and resume points separate. Repeat the setting on each device, since it is stored locally.
Tune the playback settings for your line
If streams stutter, change the player engine in the settings between the built-in and the alternative decoder, which fixes a surprising number of device-specific faults. Increase the buffer where the option exists, and choose FHD streams rather than 4K on a busy connection.
Troubleshooting IPTV Smarters Pro: quick fixes for common errors
Invalid credentials or a rejected login
Retype rather than paste. Check the http prefix on the server address, look for a capital letter left on, and watch for a trailing space. Test the same details in the desktop edition on a computer, where typing is easy, to confirm whether it is the details or the typing.
The app opens but every stream fails
The account is fine and the streams are not reaching you. Test the same login on mobile data using a phone. If it works there, the home connection is the issue and support can issue a different server address to try.
Films play but live channels stall
On-demand titles buffer ahead and live streams cannot, so live playback is the first thing to suffer on a weak connection. Move to a cable, use the 5 GHz band, and pick the FHD version of the channel rather than the 4K one.
The guide is missing or shifted by an hour
Refresh the EPG in the settings and wait a minute. If times are out by exactly an hour, set the EPG time offset until the current programme matches the clock, and check the device time zone is set to Dublin.
The app crashes on 4K titles
Usually memory pressure on an older stick or television. Clear the app cache, restart the device and play the FHD version. If it only happens on one title, tell support, since the file itself may be faulty.
Favourites disappeared after an update
Favourites and resume points live on the device. A reinstall clears them, and occasionally a major update does too. Rebuilding a short favourites list takes two minutes, which is one reason to keep it short rather than marking fifty channels.
Two devices keep knocking each other off
That is the screen limit doing its job rather than a fault. A one-screen plan allows one stream at a time. Pause on one device before playing on the other, or move to a two or three screen plan.

Because Smarters stores playback positions locally rather than on the account. Each device keeps its own. You can note the timestamp and skip forward on the second device, which is clumsy but works for the occasional switch.
Can I hide channel groups I never watch?
Yes, in the playlist or live settings, depending on the edition. Hiding groups and building a favourites list is the single biggest improvement you can make to daily use, because it turns a list of thousands into one you can actually navigate.
Does it support catch-up?
On channels that offer replay, yes, through the Catch Up section or by scrolling back in the guide. The available window is set per channel, and not every channel has one. Look for a small icon in the guide marking channels that support it.
Can children have their own restricted profile?
You can lock categories behind a PIN in the parental control settings, and create a second profile with its own login if you want separate favourites. The lock lives on each device, so set it on every screen the children use rather than just one.
Which player engine should I use?
Leave it on the default unless you have a problem. If streams stutter or audio drifts, switching between the built-in decoder and the alternative one in the settings resolves a lot of device-specific faults, and it costs nothing to try both.
