Install IPTV on Apple TV and iPhone in 10 steps
Open the App Store on the device
On an Apple TV the App Store sits on the home screen; on an iPhone or iPad it is the usual blue icon. Sign in with your Apple Account if prompted, since nothing installs without one. Downloads on Apple TV can also be pushed from a phone signed in to the same account.
Search for Smarters Player Lite
Type Smarters Player Lite and check the developer reads WHMCS SMARTERS before installing. Several apps use similar names and artwork. If you also want a second option, iPlayTV by Andre Silva is a well-regarded paid player for Apple TV.
Install and open it once
Let the download finish and open the app straight away so it completes setup. On an Apple TV, typing is easier if you have an iPhone nearby: iOS offers to act as a keyboard when a text field appears on the television.
Sign in with Xtream Codes
Choose the Xtream Codes option and enter the server address, username and password exactly as WhatsApp sent them. Use the iPhone keyboard prompt where it appears rather than the on-screen grid. Letter case matters and a trailing space will cause a rejection.
Let the channels and guide load
The first sign-in pulls several thousand channels and a full programme guide, which takes a minute or two. Wait for it to settle before deciding anything about speed. The app then opens on its own home screen with Live, Films and Series sections.
Check the Irish and UK groups
Open the Ireland group and start RTE, Virgin Media and TG4, then move to the UK group. Confirming these first is the most useful minute you will spend, because they are the channels an Irish household opens every evening.
Turn on Match Content on an Apple TV
In the television settings, under Video and Audio, switch on Match Dynamic Range and Match Frame Rate. This makes the Apple TV output films at their native frame rate instead of forcing everything to 60 Hz, and it noticeably improves how film content looks. It applies to everything you watch, not only IPTV.
Build a favourites list
Mark the channels the household actually uses as favourites and set the app to open on that list. On Apple hardware the remote is fast but the list is long, so a dozen favourites is far more usable than scrolling thousands of entries.
Set up AirPlay only as a fallback
AirPlay from an iPhone to an Apple TV works, but running the app natively on the Apple TV is better in every way: no delay, no drain on the phone battery and a proper remote. Keep AirPlay for the occasional case where a title plays on the phone and not on the television.
Add a PIN if children use the device
Open the parental control section in the player settings, set a code and lock any category that is unsuitable. Apple screen time controls sit on top of that at the device level. Repeat the player setting on each device, since it is stored locally rather than on the account.
Troubleshooting Apple TV and iPhone: quick fixes for common errors
Smarters Player Lite does not appear in search
Store listings vary by country and apps occasionally get pulled and reinstated. Check the App Store region matches where you are, and search for the developer name WHMCS SMARTERS instead. Support can tell you which player is currently live in the Irish store.
The login is rejected on Apple TV
Typing on a television is where most errors happen. Use the iPhone keyboard prompt, check the http prefix on the server address and watch for autocorrect capitalising the first letter of the username. Turn off autocorrect in the iOS keyboard settings before typing credentials.
Films play but live channels do not
That usually points at the connection rather than the account, since live streams are less tolerant of dips than on-demand titles, which buffer ahead. Test on mobile data to compare, and ask support for an alternative server address if the home line is the problem.
Playback is smooth but motion looks odd
Match Frame Rate is probably off, so film shot at 24 frames is being converted to 60. Turn on Match Dynamic Range and Match Frame Rate under Video and Audio. This is the single most noticeable picture setting on an Apple TV.
AirPlay cannot find the Apple TV
Both devices must sit on the same network, and a guest network will hide them from one another. Check AirPlay is enabled in the Apple TV settings, then restart both devices. In practice, installing the player on the Apple TV removes the need for AirPlay entirely.
The app closes during 4K playback
Usually memory pressure on an older Apple TV HD. Close other apps, restart the device and try the FHD version of the same stream. A 4K model handles large libraries and high bitrates far more comfortably.
Subtitles do not appear on a film
Open the playback menu and look for a subtitle track. If none is listed, the source file does not carry one, which no setting can change. On-demand titles are far more likely to include subtitle tracks than live channels.

Questions about IPTV on Apple TV and iPhone
Is there a TiViMate version for Apple TV?
No. TiViMate is Android only and there has never been an Apple release, so any listing using the name on the App Store is not the real thing. Use Smarters Player Lite or iPlayTV instead, both of which read the same EmeraldIPTV login.
Which Apple TV should I buy?
The 4K model, and the version with an Ethernet port if you watch live sport, since a wired connection is the most reliable fix for mid-match pauses. The older Apple TV HD still works but struggles more with large channel lists and high bitrate streams.
Can I watch on an iPhone while travelling?
Yes. The same login works on the phone wherever there is a usable connection, which is why Irish people abroad often keep a subscription for the home channels. Remember a one-screen plan plays one stream at a time, so a household split between two countries needs two screens.
Does it work on a Mac?
On Macs built on Apple chips, yes, because they can run iPad applications. On older Intel Macs, use the web player or VLC with your M3U link instead. The desktop edition of Smarters is another option covered in the PC guide.
Is Smarters Player Lite free?
The app itself installs at no cost. Some Apple players, such as iPlayTV, are a one-off purchase paid to their developer rather than to us. Either way the subscription is separate, and no player includes any channels of its own.
Why is AirPlay worse than the app?
AirPlay sends the picture from the phone to the television, which adds delay, uses the phone battery and depends on the Wi-Fi handling both legs of the journey. Running the player on the Apple TV removes all three problems, so treat AirPlay as a fallback rather than the plan.
Will an iOS update break the setup?
No. The player updates through the App Store and your login is unaffected. Occasionally a major app update moves menus, so if something is not where this guide describes, look one level up in the settings before assuming it has gone.
