Connect Smart IPTV to EmeraldIPTV in 10 steps
Install the app and note the MAC
Find Smart IPTV in the store built into the television and install it. Open it once and the screen shows a MAC address along with the website to visit. Photograph that screen with your phone rather than writing it down, because a misread character is the most common failure here.
Open the Smart IPTV site on a phone
On a phone or laptop, go to the address the app displays. The page asks for the MAC address and a playlist link. Nothing is installed on the phone; it is simply the form that tells the app which playlist belongs to your television.
Enter the MAC and your M3U link
Type the MAC exactly as shown, then paste your EmeraldIPTV M3U address in full. Paste rather than type the link, and check it has not been cut short or broken across two lines, which happens easily when copying from a chat.
Tick Detect EPG before saving
The form has an option to detect guide data automatically. Tick it, or the channel list will load with no programme information at all. Then save. The site confirms the link has been stored against that MAC.
Restart the app on the television
Close Smart IPTV properly and reopen it, rather than backing out to the home screen. The channel list downloads on that fresh start. Restarting the television itself is worth doing if the list does not appear within a minute.
Check the Irish and UK channels
Open the Ireland group and start RTE, Virgin Media and TG4, then the UK group. On older televisions these take a moment longer to start than on a modern box, which is normal rather than a fault.
Tidy the list
Smart IPTV can hide groups and mark favourites from within the app. On an older set with a slow remote, this matters more than on any other platform, because scrolling a long list is genuinely tedious. Keep favourites to the channels the house actually watches.
Pay the one-off activation
After a short free trial, the developer charges a small one-time fee per television, paid on their site. That payment goes to them rather than to us and is separate from your subscription. It is usually worth it on an older Samsung or LG set.
Set the guide offset if times look wrong
If programmes appear an hour out, look for the time shift setting in the app. Check the television clock is set automatically as well, since a wrong clock affects the guide regardless of the app setting.
Keep the MAC and link somewhere safe
If the television is ever reset or replaced, the MAC changes and the playlist has to be linked again. Save the photograph of the MAC screen and the WhatsApp message with your M3U link, and the job takes two minutes rather than an evening.
Troubleshooting Smart IPTV: quick fixes for common errors
No channels appear after saving the link
The MAC on the site must match the app exactly, and it is easy to confuse B with 8 or 0 with O. Re-check character by character against your photograph, confirm the M3U link is complete, then fully restart the app.
The list loads but the guide is empty
Detect EPG was probably left unticked. Return to the site, tick it and save again, then restart the app. Guide data arrives separately from the channel list and can take a minute to appear afterwards.
The app says the trial has expired
The developer allows a short free period per television, then asks for a one-off payment on their own site. This is unrelated to your subscription, which continues regardless. If you would rather not pay it, use a different player from the television store instead.
Channels stop after a television software update
An update occasionally resets the app or changes the MAC reported. Open the app, check the MAC against what you saved, and if it has changed, link the new one on the site. The playlist itself does not need to change.
The picture stutters on a smart television
Older sets have limited processing power for high bitrate streams. Choose the HD or FHD version of a channel rather than the 4K one, connect by cable rather than Wi-Fi, and restart the television before a long film.
The playlist link is rejected as invalid
It has usually been truncated in copying. Open the link in a browser on the phone: it should download a playlist file. If the browser shows an error instead, ask support to resend the address rather than retyping it by hand.
Only some channels play
That points to the stream rather than the setup, since the playlist itself is clearly working. Note which groups fail and tell support, who can check those streams or issue a different server address.

Common questions about Smart IPTV
Why does Smart IPTV have no login screen?
It identifies the television by its MAC address rather than by a username and password, which is why the link is made on the website instead of on the set. It is unusual but it works well, and it means nothing needs typing on a television keyboard.
Is the activation fee going to us?
No. It is charged by the developer of Smart IPTV, on their own site, per television. Your subscription with us is entirely separate and unaffected. We mention the fee because it surprises people who expect the app to be free forever.
Is Smart IPTV better than Smarters on a Samsung?
On an older set, often yes, because it is lighter and starts faster. On a recent set, a Smarters-style player is usually better, since Xtream sign-in gives proper Films and Series sections and a guide, which an M3U playlist cannot provide.
Can I use it on more than one television?
Yes, but each television has its own MAC and needs its own link and its own activation fee. Your subscription screen limit still applies to how many can play at the same time, regardless of how many sets have the app installed.
Does it support catch-up?
Not reliably, because the M3U route does not carry catch-up markers the way an Xtream login does. If replaying missed programmes matters to you, use a player with Xtream sign-in, or add an Android stick running Smarters or TiViMate Premium.
What happens if I get a new television?
The new set has a different MAC, so the playlist must be linked again and the developer fee applies to that television. Nothing about your subscription changes, and support can resend your M3U link if you no longer have it.
Can I edit the playlist to reorder channels?
The app allows hiding groups and marking favourites, which covers most of what people want. Editing the underlying playlist is not something we recommend, since a manually edited file will not update when the line-up changes.
